Swarm Screen Saver

You can download this screen saver from e.g. www.winsite.com.

Here is the included README file. At the time of writing (October 1996) I was in Germany using a German installation of NT without any English spell-checker. Thus, please excuse the spelling mistakes and think about what would be the result if I had used the suggestions of the German spell-checker.

As it turns out, not everybody is able to appreciate this screen saver. One must already have some appreciation for mathematics and physics for being able to enjoy watching the bees and for begin able to enjoy playing around with the parameters.

Some people have complained that the parameters, which can be changed by the user, have to be entered using an edit field instead of using a more windows like slider control. Well -- this again got something to do with mathematics and flexible software. There may be multiple non-overlapping parameter regions, which result in systems interesting to watch. Furthermore -- I did the programming on a Pentium90 in 1996. With faster machines, the screen saver becomes ever more interesting. Using a slider control all of these advantages would have been lost.

The comment in the about box isn't valid anymore!

The parameters I'm currently using are here (on a 266 MHz Pentium, resolution 1600x1200, running NT):
